Bond upheld in McClellon drug case

My dad, he's not a bad guy." Mertina McClellon suggested the use of an ankle monitor or regular visits from probation officers to determine if her father is compliant. She said there is no way the family can raise the bond. Robert McClellon's wife, Jackie, also testified to her concerns that her husband's health may be deteriorating. However, Des Moines County prosecutor Tyron Rogers said the bond is appropriate for the charges. He noted McClellon "very recently" was convicted of a similar offense and that narcotics agents were able to find drugs and guns inside McClellon's home. "This individual is a danger to society," Rogers said, adding if convicted on all the charges, McClellon faces up to 30 years in prison. McClellon was arrested in September after Southeast Iowa Narcotics Task Force agents, armed with a search warrant, found 110 grams of marijuana, more than 7 grams of crack, three firearms and nearly 600 Xanax pills inside McClellon's home, according to court documents.

Sweet, Moist... Cottony?

Get 'em while they're hot. T-shirts, that is. Not cupcakes. Welcome to Newbury Street's newest apparel store, Johnny Cupcakes, specializing in one-of-a-kind silk-screened t-shirts that are anything but stale. A mix of pop culture iconography and punk rock attitude, Johnny Cupcakes supplies the kind of edgy, unique t-shirts Urban Outfitters wishes it still sold. David W. Ingber '07 describes himself as “obsessed with Johnny Cupcakes apparel," though he has yet to purchase an item. “It's too expensive for me. I'm just a big fan of it existing," he says. Besides shirts, Johnny also sells pants, underwear, and bags in a bakery-themed boutique. The clothes are displayed on stainless steel baking trays and in antique refrigerators, and apron-wearing employees—some are preppy, otheres sport nose rings—stuff purchases into bakery boxes.

Storied 'Gimli Glider' on final approach

The emergency landing in 1983 is etched in pilot Robert Pearson's mind, the moment he pushed firmly on the brake pedals with both feet to slow Air Canada's new Boeing 767 jet after it touched down on an airstrip in Gimli, Man. The plane with 61 passengers and eight crew had run out of fuel around the Ontario-Manitoba border, and for the next 200 kilometres, the airline captain and his first officer, Maurice Quintal, glided the plane without any power. .
