Family represented by Feiger loses in Indiana trial

Editor's note: A previous version of this story stated Michael McKinney resigned from the Ball State University police force. It should have said that Robert Duplain resigned. This story has been corrected.

The questions about how he handled a deadly encounter with a Ball State University student have haunted Robert Duplain for four years, but Monday the former police officer won vindication from a jury.

Echoes of the past await Manning in frigid Green Bay

With Vince Lombardi, it was never cold," said former Packers All-Pro Fuzzy Thurston, who played guard for Green Bay from 1959-67. "Before games he'd just say something like, 'Men, it's a little blustery out there today.' . . . Then he'd say, 'It's our kind of day! Now get your (butts) out there and strut around like it's the Fourth of July.' " .

Recipes that celebrate Christmas with Hill Country flair

If Texas has a heart, it's the Hill Country, where memories warm like a cold winter's hearth. Mine take me to places such as the Colorado River area in Marble Falls, where my father was born and my great-grandparents are buried. Or to hikes through maple forests near Bandera. Or to a bed and breakfast in Comfort, where hawks loop and spin against the big sky.

With this Christmas menu, we wanted to capture some of that heart, celebrating Texas foods and traditions but with a new and delicious spin. Take Texas Red-Braised Beef Short Ribs: Beef is Texas, short ribs are pure comfort, and "red" refers to spices inspired by a bowl of red (chili, that is).

Spiced peaches are a throwback to the days before refrigeration, when women had to figure out what to do with an abundance of Hill Country fruit.

Daily Blabber Celebrity Gossip Blog from iVillage Entertainment

So make sure you be checking your spelling before you be posting anything in the comments section. Jamie Foxx: He's funny and he's an accomplished actor, but I recently heard tracks from his upcoming album and they were bad. Not good bad. Bad bad. Tom Cruise: He's a Freak with a capital F. He did give up some good nuggets on "Kate" and the kitten though: They plan to marry next summer or fall. "Kate" will be able to make noise while she gives birth. (How sweet of him.) And Babs said "Kate" is six months pregnant. Also, Tom said he doesn't regret anything he's said in the last year, including the trash talk on Brooke Shields and calling Matt Lauer glib. That's good because I don't regret anything I've called him all year either. Plus: Check out Tom's latest mission -- in Shanghai. The focus of the trip was supposed to be to discuss MI:3, which is filming there.

Wide Write: Crunch Time

Either this week or next week, your fantasy league's playoffs will begin. You'll spend Sunday afternoons with one eye on the TV and the other on your computer, and it'll be a fantastically enjoyable experience - as long as you win, of course.

We're not going to overanalyze what you should do in the playoffs; if you got this far, you probably know what you're doing. Our only recommendation, other than the weekly lineup suggestions we offer, is that you try not to overthink. Last week at our blog over at FOXSports.com, we had a surprising number of people post comments with questions like, "Should I bench Peyton Manning for Derek Anderson," or "I'm thinking about sitting LaDainian Tomlinson for some guy I never heard of until a week ago. Is that a good idea?" No, it isn't.

Courtesy of our FOXSports.com colleague Roger Rotter, here's a sampling of players you should keep in your starting lineup unless they're injured (players marked with an * are in danger of falling off the list):

QB: Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Ben Roethlisberger, Tony Romo

Unionist ‘summit’ in bid to thwart SNP

Leading politicians from Holyrood and Westminster will gather behind closed doors in London today for their first meeting to discuss the prospect of giving the Scottish Parliament more powers.

Wendy Alexander, Annabel Goldie and Nicol Stephen, the respective leaders of the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties at Holyrood, will privately meet their London counterparts in a room at the House of Commons to discuss how the proposed constitutional commission on devolution should be established and to underpin Unionist opposition to the independence policy of the Nationalists.

Last night, a source close to Des Browne, the Scottish Secretary, told The Herald: "It's critical at the moment for the Unionist parties to work together to demonstrate the fact that the settled will of the Scottish people is for devolution.

How To Really Talk To Your Therapist: Four Collaborative Steps

You might even feel afraid of asking questions or discussing concerns about your therapy.

Remember that therapists are human beings and have the same flaws as the rest of us. Therapy is a subjective process, and the therapist can only give his or her own subjectively colored opinion, which has been shaped by his training and life experiences. That viewpoint may not always be the right one for you.

As the "consumer" in the therapy partnership, it's your responsibility to look after your best interests and to be an active participant in your therapy. If something isn't working, it's up to you to talk about it with your therapist. The message is clear: Take your therapist off the pedestal and take ownership of your therapy.

Plan out what to say in advance

As an active partner in your own therapy, you may need to express concerns, ask questions, or even give your therapist negative feedback about how you believe the therapy is going.

Fragility = Power for Pelosi

Rove blames complacent candidates for much of the GOP's defeat. He says even some scandal-tainted members won when they followed what he calls "the program" of voter contacts and early voting. "Where some people came up short was where they didn't have a program," he told NEWSWEEK.

Is something wrong? Only 6 plugs for Andrew Sullivan's book on his blog (not counting the two large reproductions of the cover). We expect more! 3:51 P.M.

Attention, President-Elect Calderon: Bush Press Secretary Tony Snow, in a post-election interview with Hugh Hewitt, is really, really insistent that Bush will build the border fence.

"The public needs to know, I'm telling you right now, the fence is going to be built. "

Snow promises "certainly, more than a hundred miles" by 2008, if I read the interview correctly.
