Viewer Feedback On Gov. Blagojevich

He was in his Springfield office as long either chamber was in session. Meals were brought in to feed him and his staff and on occasions he was in his office till the wee hours of the morning. I know because I was there. Blago on the other hand is a major no show. He is perceived as a dishonest, disrespectful, self-centered, selfish, inept, incompetent, show-boating braggart who is more concerned about his political future than he is about the welfare of the State of Illinois. As for the administrations accusation of the story being "sleazy," I was around Flannery for several years and Mike does not do "sleazy". If the press really, really, really dug into Blago's activities and exposed him for what he really is there would be less of a call for impeachment and more of a call for incarceration.--AnonymousI just want to offer my two cents on Governor Blagojevich.

The Joy of Commuting and Other Stuff

Happy Valentine's Day everyone. In case you missed it, here's an interesting story making headlines today. Jane Fonda appeared on the "Today" Show this morning alongside "The Vagina Monologues" author Eve Ensler. They were there to promote a 10th anniversary kickoff of V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls started by Ensler. While talking about the show, Fonda said the C-word. Yes, the C-word. When the show came back from break, "Today" host Meredith Vieira issued an apology, saying Fonda inadvertently said a word from the play that you don't say on TV and that she slipped. She said Fonda also apologized. What's the big deal? I mean, vets have been calling her that for years... Controversial, of course. What did you think I meant? 2/13/08 'From the Mouths of Babes' Since it's so bleak and miserable outside today, I thought the following anecdote might make you laugh.

Cooking cause of DeBordieu fire

Authorities have ruled unattended cooking caused a fire that destroyed a home in the DeBordieu community near Pawleys Island Tuesday night, according to a Wednesday statement from Midway Fire Rescue.

Firefighters were dispatched to the structure fire at 2981 Luvan Blvd. at 8:20 p.m. to find the closest fire hydrant was not working, reports Midway Fire spokesman Lt. Bob Beebe. As a result, crews laid 1,800 feet of hose to access the next-closest hydrant.

Beebe reports the home did not have a sprinkler system, which would likely have minimized the damage.

The malfunctioning hydrant was possibly damaged in a traffic crash on Friday, Beebe reports, and was to remain in temporary service until it could be completely repaired.

A crew began to repair the hydrant on Tuesday, but emergency repairs to a broken water line nearby interrupted the work and the crew marked the hydrant as being out of service, according to Beebe's statement.

Come Stressed,Leave Sun-kissed

It’s one of my life goals to live in a hotel. Aside from the fact that such a goal (OK, more like a dream) would be a bit costly, finding the right hotel — one with an ideal location, spacious rooms and good service — is not as easy as it seems. With this dream constantly in the back of my mind, I can’t help scrutinizing every hotel I stay in as if I am considering making it my new home.

The InterContinental Abu Soma, in the newly developed Soma Bay, is not a hotel I would live in; even better, it is where I would go to escape the world. The hotel is huge, with spacious rooms, a fabulous beach and a pool reminiscent of the one at the Playboy Mansion. Don’t get your hopes up; this isn’t the type of place where you will find a bevy of Playboy bunnies relaxing in between parties.
